Growing up in the Bay Area, I watched as my restaurateur mother lovingly hand-crafted myriad varieties of kimchi and banchan for her patrons; for some, she brought a taste of home, for others, she introduced exciting new flavors.
Many patrons grew to become her friends—sharing her culture and traditions as well as her food.
